J Thomson Colour Printers received a visit from some Glasgow School of Art students last month.
The Communication Design students took a tour round J Thomson's state-of-the-art factory in Glasgow to gain insights into how the country's market-leading print company ticks.
The students were brought through J Thomson's project management process, starting in pre-production and sales before moving on to the printing presses, digital and post-production departments.
J Thomson has a close relationship with both the education and art industries in Scotland and everyone at the company loves the opportunity to explain the processes which we use to best serve and support both of these vital sectors.
The students at the Glasgow School of Art clearly enjoyed the experience, saying, "The team at J Thomson are very friendly and welcoming. The students enjoyed learning the whole print process (from prepress right through to finishing) with demonstrations and impressive real world examples. It was an invaluable experience which energised tomorrow’s designers and enabled a comprehension and appreciation for the optimum workflow in a professional print environment."
This visit continues J Thomson's strong bond with The Glasgow School of Art, internationally recognised as one of Europe's leading university-level institutions for the visual creative disciplines.
